DD Note - The Need to Talk:The last two works in this concert are unusual in that they both deal with two prevailing phenomena of the time, some may call them vices - the Talk Show and the Mobile Phone - each a product of the human desire to communicate, and not always wisely! Since Talk Show is almost a Musical in itself, I have included shortened excerpts of it along with the corresponding texts, because the words are important to this theatrical tragedy. So please click to enlarge them and follow the story to its conclusion. We didn’t really have time to rehearse an encore, but Jocelyn Pook’s imaginative take on the development of the telephone from bakelite to the infamous interruptions of the then ubiquitous Nokia Mobile was originally on the agenda and I decided to present it before the audience anyway – unwisely or not.
