
Conductor & Vocal Coach
DAVID DRUMMOND is a conductor and vocal coach currently living in California.
He has conducted opera for English National Opera, Gothenburg Opera, Scottish Opera and for Kharkov Opera in the Ukraine where he was invited to conduct Boris Godunov.
As Director of Opera at University College, London he curated several British Opera Premières including The Ballad of Baby Doe and Sallinen’s Kullervo.
Orchestras he has conducted include the Royal Philharmonic, Kharkov Philharmonic & the BBC Concert Orchestra with whom he recorded the BBC Olympics 2000 theme and a world premiere CD.
As a professional Vocal Coach, he was for seventeen years a professor at both The Royal College of Music and The Royal Academy of Music in London and has overseen the success of many singing students into professional careers.
Musical Director of the esteemed London Oriana Choir for eighteen years he has written arrangements and performed with such luminaries as Beth Nielsen Chapman and rock legend Robert Plant. His choral arrangements of Christmas carols have been released on CD and he has been a presenter at TEDx HousesofParliament.
Since moving to California performances include: Rigoletto, La Bohème, La Belle Hélène, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Lucrecia Borgia, La Rondine, Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe, Merry Widow and most recently Albert Herring.
